Senior Manager, Data Platform Engineering (GCP)

What you will do

• Lead, coach, and grow the Data Platform Engineering team, initially managing one direct report.
• Set architecture standards, technical direction, and the roadmap for the enterprise data platform.
• Administer and configure Fivetran, BigQuery, Dataplex, dbt Cloud, and Tableau, including access, environments, scheduling, CI/CD, permissions, and licensing.
• Ensure reliability, cost, security, governance, and auditability commitments across the platform.
• Review and prioritize the operational backlog against the platform roadmap.
• Represent Data Platform Engineering in planning with Data Engineering, Data Governance, Cloud Security, and Business Intelligence.

Requirements

• Deep, hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery, and Dataplex.
• Hands-on experience administering and configuring dbt or a comparable transformation platform, and Fivetran or a comparable ELT tool.
• Experience administering Tableau or a comparable business intelligence platform.
• Technical leadership experience, including setting standards, mentoring engineers, or leading initiatives.
• Ability to balance architecture and strategic work with hands-on operational responsibilities.
• Strong communication skills for representing priorities and trade-offs to peers and senior leadership.

• Experience formally leading or informally mentoring a technical team.
• Experience scaling a team from one or two people to a larger group.
