Sr SDET– Firmware Automation (Embedded)

What you will do

• Own the architecture and roadmap of firmware test automation frameworks across products, hardware targets, sites, and teams.
• Build production-quality automation, hardware-in-the-loop infrastructure, bench and rack fixtures, device farms, instrument integrations, and CI orchestration.
• Integrate firmware testing into CI/CD so changes are built, flashed, exercised on hardware, and reported automatically.
• Define test strategies, plans, reporting, diagnostics, monitoring, and reliability metrics, including flaky-test analysis.
• Build results, telemetry, and log pipelines for triage, trend analysis, and release decisions.
• Debug failures across firmware, boards, instruments, fixtures, and test code; participate in design reviews and mentor engineers.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional software development experience, primarily with embedded products, test frameworks, and infrastructure.
• Computer Science, Electrical Engineering degree, or equivalent experience.
• Experience architecting and building an automation framework or HIL system from scratch and operating it in daily engineering use.
• Strong Python skills, including fixture and abstraction layers, hardware drivers, and plugin or configuration architectures.
• Working fluency in embedded C/C++, including reading firmware drivers or state machines and writing edge-case tests.
• Experience operating CI/CD pipelines on physical hardware, including runner health, hardware allocation, and recovery.

Nice to have

• Experience with optical transceivers, photonic systems, or precision analog and mixed-signal hardware.
• Familiarity with CMIS, OpenBMC, DMTF/Redfish, Pytest, Zephyr, FreeRTOS, Twister, ztest, Renode, or QEMU.
• Experience with optical and electrical test equipment, startup environments, or AI-assisted tools for test generation, triage, or analytics.
