State and Local Tax - Income Franchise Intern (Tax)

Location: Houston, United States; travel to assigned client locations is required

What you will do

• Integrate state and local tax services with existing client engagements.
• Complete tax planning and research tasks and develop knowledge of state and local tax regulations and accounting pronouncements.
• Review client tax processes to identify inefficiencies, improve procedures, and reduce tax exposure.
• Work with client information technology personnel to obtain historical purchasing and sales data for reporting, audit procedures, refunds, and credits.
• Assist clients with evaluating sales/use tax software and supporting implementation.
• Build working relationships with clients and contribute to multiple engagements.

Requirements

• 90 completed credit hours.
• Currently pursuing a B.A., B.S., or equivalent degree at an accredited university.
• Accounting major.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel to assigned client locations.
• Entry-level applicants must not require immigration sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Minimum 3.0 GPA.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel proficiency.
• Ability to work effectively on a team and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
