Internship - Data Engineering & AI-Ready Software Architecture

Location: Marcq-en-Barœul, France. The internship is intended for a candidate currently studying at a French university or higher French education institution and requires valid authorization to work in France.

What you will do

• Build automated modules to acquire, parse, clean, type, and quality-control data from laboratory instruments and heterogeneous file formats.
• Define unified schemas for experimental metadata, validation, serialization, interoperability, and reproducibility.
• Develop datasets, function-calling endpoints, and access layers for AI agents, LLMs, and RAG pipelines.
• Expose processing services through REST APIs and build Streamlit interfaces for scientific data visualization, validation, and querying.
• Apply Docker, Git, unit and integration testing, environment management, and technical documentation practices.
• Deliver a deployed standardization pipeline, documented schema, LLM-queryable layer, and interface for at least one NMH data family.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Master 2 or final year of an Engineering School at a French university or higher French education institution.
• Valid authorization to work in France.
• Background in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Data Engineering.
• Advanced Python proficiency and experience with REST API design, Git, Docker, databases, and data indexing concepts.
• Understanding of LLM and agent integration patterns, including function calling and JSON schemas.
• Fluent English, written and spoken. Curiosity about microbiology and fermentation, rigorous abstraction skills, code quality, and strong collaboration skills are expected.

Nice to have

• Experience with scientific or tabular data, including units, dilutions, replicates, plate formats, or time series.
• Exposure to bioinformatics or laboratory data.
