Intern Metals, Mining & Fertilizers – Wholesale Banking (f/m/x)

Location: Frankfurt am Main, Germany; hybrid working with remote work permitted within operational, regulatory, and legal requirements

ING Wholesale Banking is a corporate banking business supporting clients in the metals, mining, and fertilizers sectors, including mines, smelters, refining facilities, battery minerals, and green steel projects.

What you will do

• Collect and analyse client information to support the origination of new transactions.
• Assist with transaction management, due diligence, credit investment proposals, and client risk ratings.
• Perform technical analysis of new deals and contribute to specific transaction workstreams.
• Identify business opportunities and track financial, business, and industrial trends in the sector.
• Create financial models, prepare client pitches, and support the implementation of facilities, collaterals, and funding.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders and contribute to complex financing transactions.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Econometrics, Business Administration, Law, Engineering, or a related field, or taking a gap year between degrees.
• Practical experience in project finance, wholesale or corporate banking, transaction services, structured asset finance, leveraged finance, or debt advisory.
• Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Analytical, detail-oriented, quality-focused, proactive, and able to work effectively in a team.
• Strong English writing and communication skills.
• Available for a six-month internship starting in December 2026.

• Knowledge of the metals, mining, and fertilizers sector.
• Additional language skills, such as German.
