Scala Engineer (Typelevel)

Location: Remote, must be based in Portugal

Salary: €45,000–€70,000 per annum

What you will do

• Develop and maintain backend services and new platform features.
• Design, test, and improve secure, reliable, and scalable software.
• Contribute to technical decisions and Agile ceremonies.
• Collaborate with engineers and wider teams.
• Produce clear technical documentation and maintain high standards for security, data protection, and software quality.

Requirements

• 4+ years of professional experience developing Scala backend systems.
• Strong functional programming knowledge and hands-on experience with the Typelevel ecosystem, ideally Cats or Cats Effect.
• Strong problem-solving and software engineering skills.
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Experience with microservices and AWS is highly desirable.
