Senior Software Engineer (AI)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States

Base salary: $180,000–$215,000 per year, plus bonus and equity.

What you will do

• Build analytical pipelines and visualizations over population-scale data to evaluate dataset distributions and algorithm performance.
• Translate data variance and algorithm behavior findings into product requirements and algorithmic design recommendations.
• Develop data annotation protocols for product development and FDA submissions.
• Collaborate with Research, Product, Clinical, Engineering, Quality, and Regulatory teams to deliver cloud-based medical software.
• Lead technical projects from conception through deployment and support regulatory submission efforts.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and troubleshooting across distributed systems, applications, networks, and cloud environments.

Requirements

• Master’s or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Biomedical Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of industry experience, or 3+ years with a Ph.D., in Data Science, Biomedical Signal Analysis, or Biomedical Image Analysis.
• Expert Python skills and proficiency with statistical data analysis libraries such as pandas, bokeh, or statsmodels.
• Experience working with large, complex datasets and developing software in FDA, MDR, or similarly regulated environments.
• Experience with image processing, computer vision, or 3D computational geometry.
• Knowledge of testing, CI/CD, agile methodologies, orchestration tools such as GitHub Actions, Linux CLI, and cloud troubleshooting.

Nice to have

• Experience collaborating with Product and Research teams on healthcare software.
• Knowledge of statistical methods, image optimization, and advanced visualization tools.
• Familiarity with HIPAA compliance and healthcare data security.
• Open-source contributions or publications in relevant technical or clinical fields.
