Instructional Systems Designer (Defence)

Location: Homebush, NSW, Australia; on-site or hybrid work required as available

What you will do

• Lead and coordinate training development activities across multiple projects.
• Review and quality-assure training content against established standards.
• Collaborate with subject matter experts, multimedia specialists, software developers, and training professionals to create learning solutions.
• Monitor schedules, manage priorities, identify delivery risks, and report progress to stakeholders.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of instructional design, technical writing, and media standards.

Requirements

• Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or TAE40122).
• Undergraduate qualification in education, adult learning, instructional design, or a related discipline.
• Experience in instructional design, eLearning, or computer-based training development.
• Strong written communication, technical writing, stakeholder engagement, analytical, and prioritisation skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Australian citizenship and eligibility to obtain and maintain an NV1 Defence Security Clearance are required.

Nice to have

• Experience in defence, military aviation, naval, or mission systems environments.
• Knowledge of Australian Defence Force training policies and procedures, including SADL.
• Experience with Learning Content Management Systems, eLearning authoring tools, AQTF, or a Diploma of Vocational Education and Training (TAE50122).
• 5+ years of experience in training development or instructional design.
