R&D Secondary Technology Engineer (High Voltage Switchgear)

What you will do

• Develop reusable secondary electrical systems, architectures, and standardized LCC/control-cabinet platforms for high-voltage switchgear.
• Create master circuits, schematic diagrams, wiring plans, and interface specifications for operating mechanisms, coils, motors, and interlocking systems.
• Integrate control, auxiliary, sensing, monitoring, and digital interfaces, including LPITs and IEC 61850.
• Harmonize product designs with IEC, IEEE, and ANSI standards across Europe, the USA, and Latin America.
• Support testing, prototype verification, qualification, component and supplier qualification, and root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with primary technology, product engineering, testing, product management, and global manufacturing teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Control Engineering, Mechatronics, or a comparable discipline.
• Typically 3–5 years of experience in electrical or control system development, preferably in high-voltage switchgear or power transmission equipment.
• Experience with electrical and mechanical CAD tools such as PTC Creo and EPLAN.
• Knowledge of secondary electrical design, protection, control, metering, auxiliary circuits, operating mechanisms, and substation technology.
• Familiarity with the IEC 62271 family, IEEE, ANSI, requirements engineering, testing, and validation procedures.
• Professional proficiency in English and Spanish, written and spoken.
