Senior Detection Engineer (AI)

Location: Remote within the United States

Salary: $159,800–$235,000 USD base salary, plus potential equity grants.

What you will do

• Build, test, deploy, operate, and optimize detection-as-code pipelines for Protective Services.
• Develop risk-based analytics and custom alerting from threat intelligence, investigative needs, incidents, and observed behavior.
• Integrate enterprise telemetry, marketplace activity, physical security events, OSINT, support interactions, and other external signals.
• Apply rules, statistical methods, machine learning, and LLM-backed techniques to improve detection and investigation quality.
• Conduct technical triage and investigations, correlate signals, assess confidence and scope, and support response and mitigation.
• Maintain engineering standards, testing practices, documentation, detection repositories, and use-case libraries while mentoring engineers.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States; the role is remote.
• 7+ years of experience in detection engineering, alert development, threat hunting, incident response, security operations engineering, threat intelligence, or security-focused software engineering.
• Production experience with detection-as-code pipelines, including source control, testing, review, deployment, and monitoring.
• Experience building automation and LLM-backed or agentic tooling, including evaluating quality, reliability, and failure modes.
• Strong knowledge of cloud-based and distributed systems, security datasets, investigative methods, and cross-functional security operations.
• Mastery of SQL or SIEM query languages such as SPL or KQL, plus maintainable code in Python, Go, or another relevant language; bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with Snowflake, Cortex, or Google SecOps.
• Familiarity with marketplace activity, physical access, alarms, video, OSINT, or support-interaction telemetry.
• Experience using MITRE ATT&CK, D3FEND, or similar detection frameworks.
