Cryptography and Hardware Security Tester (m/f/d)

What you will do

• Analyze cryptographic algorithms, protocols, modules, embedded systems, and secure hardware from a security perspective.
• Review technical documentation, product architecture, source code, and security requirements.
• Set up test environments, execute tests, investigate unexpected results, and verify authentication, key handling, self-tests, and error conditions.
• Develop or adapt scripts to automate cryptographic testing and analyze results, including random number generation and entropy assessment.
• Support implementation-security testing such as side-channel analysis and fault injection according to project needs.
• Document findings, clarify issues with senior colleagues and client engineering teams, and prepare technical reports and validation submissions.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Telecommunications, Cybersecurity, Physics, or a related discipline.
• Basic understanding of symmetric and asymmetric encryption, hashing, and digital signatures.
• Practical programming or scripting experience; Python and/or C/C++ are particularly relevant.
• Systematic problem-solving skills, attention to detail, collaboration, and willingness to learn.
• English sufficient for reading technical standards, writing clear reports, and participating in technical discussions.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement based around the Málaga office.

Nice to have

• Linux, command-line tools, debugging, software testing, cryptographic libraries, embedded systems, PKI, TLS, SSH, or IPsec experience.
• Exposure to FIPS 140-3, ISO/IEC 19790, cryptographic algorithm testing, random number generation, or entropy assessment.
• Knowledge of statistics, electronics, signal processing, side-channel analysis, or fault injection.
• Academic or personal projects involving applied cryptography, embedded security, or security evaluation.
