Senior Backend Engineer (Ruby) (Production Engineering: Tenant Controls)

Location: Remote, Poland

Salary: 272,000–408,000 PLN base salary per year

What you will do

• Design and ship moderate to complex backend features using modular-monolith code, shared components, or independently operated services.
• Shape team objectives, technical direction, and product requirements with product managers and designers.
• Define backend standards for maintainability, testing, APIs, security, availability, performance, and operational readiness.
• Mentor associate and intermediate engineers, remove technical blockers, and improve delivery through code and design reviews.
• Diagnose and prevent performance and reliability issues at scale, participate in incident response, and act as a technical owner.
• Experiment with and integrate agentic AI into production engineering workflows.

Requirements

• Strong command of backend architecture, APIs, data systems, and performance tuning.
• Proficiency in modern backend languages and a strong understanding of systems programming.
• Experience designing modular backend boundaries, bounded contexts, and migration-safe architectures.
• Ability to lead through influence, technical judgment, asynchronous written communication, and independent work.
• Experience building or operating agentic AI systems in production, including loops, tool use, and error-handling strategies.
• Eligibility for the Poland-based role is limited to residents of Poland.

Nice to have

• Experience with high-throughput distributed systems, concurrency, profiling, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, schema evolution, partitioning, modular monoliths, or event-driven systems.
• Public technical communication, open source maintenance, or developer-focused SaaS experience.
