Engineer II/III, Automation (Biotechnology)

Location: Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, United States; onsite role

Salary: $77,000–$100,250 base salary annually

What you will do

• Configure and maintain DeltaV DCS and Syncade MES software for process improvements, new products, and equipment implementations.
• Design and implement automation solutions with process owners, manufacturing, engineering, quality, and other cross-functional stakeholders.
• Author and approve lifecycle, project, procedure, work instruction, and validation documentation.
• Create and execute testing scripts and support validation activities under GAMP 5 principles.
• Manage change controls, troubleshoot MES and DCS issues, and participate in on-call support.
• Lead small to medium engineering projects and optimize system design, programming, integrations, and operational processes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline.
• Engineer II: 0–2 years of experience in a GMP manufacturing environment.
• Engineer III: At least 2 years of experience with MES recipe authoring, preferably Syncade, and/or DeltaV support in an engineering environment.
• Understanding of system validation, change controls, and troubleshooting in MES and DCS environments.
• Ability to develop automation solutions, evaluate technical options, and drive system enhancements.
• Strong collaboration, communication, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in large-scale biotechnology or pharmaceutical manufacturing.
• Familiarity with PI Historian, Oracle, CMMS, Veeva, and Labware LIMS integrations.
• Experience with investigations, CAPAs, GAMP 5, regulated systems, and automation optimization.
• Experience as a subject matter expert for MES, DeltaV, or other manufacturing automation systems.
