Manager, Applied AI Engineering (Megas)

Location: San Francisco, CA; New York City, NY; or Seattle, WA. Hybrid policy requires staff to be in an Anthropic office at least 25% of the time, with additional office attendance possible for some roles. Travel to customer sites is required.

Annual salary: $320,000–$405,000 USD

What you will do

• Build, hire, coach, and scale a customer-facing team of Applied AI Engineers serving strategic Mega accounts.
• Lead account-aligned engineering pods and coordinate technical work with Applied AI Architects, Sales, Partnerships, Product, and Research.
• Advise customer product and engineering leaders on Claude architecture, evaluation strategy, advanced prompting, agentic patterns, and production deployment.
• Lead co-build initiatives from prototypes and pilots through production deployments.
• Create reusable reference architectures, agentic patterns, evaluation frameworks, and documentation across accounts.
• Surface strategic customer requirements to Anthropic’s product and research roadmap while maintaining high standards for safety and reliability.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience in technical roles such as Forward Deployed Engineer, Software Engineer, Solutions or Sales Engineer, or Technical Product Manager.
• 4+ years of formal leadership experience, ideally managing managers or multiple teams.
• Experience hiring, coaching, and scaling customer-facing technical teams and supporting large strategic accounts.
• Production experience with LLMs, including prompt engineering, agent development, evaluation frameworks, transcript analysis, MCP, and deployment at scale.
• Strong programming skills in Python or TypeScript and experience building production applications.
• Experience engaging senior technical stakeholders and influencing architecture and partner product roadmaps.

Nice to have

• Experience at a hyperscaler, foundation model lab, or large ISV in strategic accounts or alliances.
• Experience with marketplace, embed/OEM, co-sell, or forward-deployed engineering motions.
• Experience leading teams through rapid scale and coaching engineers into customer-facing advisory roles.
• Executive briefing and public speaking experience.
