Cyber Range Engineer (CRE)

Location: Norfolk, VA, USA; 100% on-site in a Special Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF)

What you will do

• Develop, configure, update, and maintain cyber ranges across virtualized and physical environments.
• Build Cyber Gym content in PCTE or similar cyber training environments and assist Coast Guard content creators.
• Design range networks, automate range and user traffic, and create supporting documentation and training scenarios.
• Configure security logging, data shipping, and mission-network security applications such as HBSS, ACAS, and CDS.
• Integrate Defensive Cyberspace Operations toolkits and use assessment tools including Core Impact, Nmap, Metasploit, and Nessus.
• Research adversary TTPs, validate vulnerabilities, analyze assessment results, and support threat-emulation and penetration-testing operations.

Requirements

• Top Secret/SCI security clearance required.
• Minimum five years of experience providing highly technical subject-matter expertise and guidance to government personnel.
• Experience in at least five relevant areas, including cyber operations, network engineering, penetration testing, vulnerability analysis, adversary emulation, performance monitoring, cyber training, or cyber policy and doctrine.
• Working knowledge of virtualized and physical networks, security applications, traffic collection, network monitoring, and Navy Information System Architecture.
• Working-level ability with one or more of Puppet, Python, JavaScript, Ruby, or SQL.
• Familiarity with NIST Special Publications and relevant technical education or certifications in cybersecurity, networking, cloud, Linux, or virtualization.
