Lead System Administrator (Defence & Security)

Location: Helsinki, Finland; primarily on-site. Finnish citizenship is required due to client and security regulations, and the selected candidate must complete a security clearance process.

What you will do

• Own, maintain, and refine the team backlog and set priorities based on business impact, urgency, and technical dependencies.
• Build and maintain internal IT systems for the Defence & Security unit.
• Develop automation for system maintenance and infrastructure management.
• Ensure environments remain secure, compliant, stable, and reliable.
• Troubleshoot hardware, operating systems, networks, and automation issues.
• Work with developers, business stakeholders, and consultants while improving documentation and technical practices.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of relevant experience in system administration or IT infrastructure.
• Experience gathering requirements, prioritising backlogs, and balancing conflicting demands.
• Strong Linux knowledge, including Fedora, CentOS, or similar systems.
• Understanding of IP networking, VPNs, firewalls, certificate management, and authentication mechanisms.
• Hands-on scripting experience with Bash, Python, PowerShell, or similar technologies.
• Fluency in Finnish and English, willingness to work primarily on-site in Helsinki, and Finnish citizenship are required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ansible or similar automation tools.
• Windows and macOS desktop administration experience.
• Programming experience with TypeScript, Python, or Go.
