Senior Data QA Engineer (Databricks)

Location: United States employment eligibility verification applies through E-Verify at Axos facilities.

Salary: $115,000–$125,000 per year, plus potential discretionary cash and restricted stock unit bonuses.

What you will do

• Design and execute data validation, unit, integration, regression, source-to-target, performance, and security tests.
• Test SSIS, dbt, Fivetran, Python ingestion, and Databricks data pipelines.
• Review requirements and technical specifications, define acceptance criteria, and create test plans before development begins.
• Document defects in Azure DevOps and work with developers to drive them to closure.
• Contribute automated checks to regression suites and convert manual tests to automation.
• Mentor Intermediate and Junior engineers and deputise for the Data QA Lead during ceremonies and release sign-off.

Requirements

• 5+ years of QA testing experience, including 3+ years in data engineering or data warehousing.
• Strong SQL skills for data validation, reconciliation, and profiling, plus working Python skills for test scripting.
• Hands-on experience testing ETL/ELT pipelines and data warehouse loads.
• Experience with test design, risk-based coverage, estimation, and Azure DevOps or an equivalent tool.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Experience with Databricks, PySpark, Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and Databricks Workflows or Jobs.
• Knowledge of medallion architecture and Delta Lake validation techniques.
• Experience with data test automation frameworks, CI/CD, Tableau or other BI reporting layers.
• Banking or financial services industry experience.
