Internal Audit Manager

Location: Field based in Northampton, United Kingdom

What you will do

• Deliver risk-based third-line audits across all areas of the business.
• Develop test plans, liaise with auditees, agree findings and actions, and conduct formal close-out meetings.
• Assess the design and effectiveness of policies, procedures, standards, and internal controls.
• Report recommendations, review management responses, and monitor implementation.
• Support the Head of Internal Audit in improving methodology, assurance capability, and the assurance map.
• Train, mentor, and quality-check the work of junior auditors while working with executive and senior stakeholders.

Requirements

• Audit qualification from the Institute of Internal Auditors or an equivalent qualification.
• Knowledge of corporate governance requirements, the FRC UK Corporate Governance Code, and risk management frameworks.
• Experience with financial controls or within a finance department is advantageous.
• Strong Word and Excel skills, with excellent written and verbal communication.
• Ability to manage and support junior auditors, challenge management, question assumptions, and work independently or collaboratively.
• Professionalism, integrity, independence, attention to detail, and accuracy.

Nice to have

• Experience auditing major transformation programmes.
• Knowledge of ESG and emerging governance frameworks.
