Research Engineer, Production Model Post Training (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA; New York City, NY; or Seattle, WA. Hybrid work is required, with staff expected to be in one of the offices at least 25% of the time.

What you will do

• Implement and optimize post-training techniques at scale for frontier models.
• Research and improve post-training recipes that increase production model quality, safety, and capabilities.
• Design, build, and operate efficient pipelines for model fine-tuning and evaluation.
• Develop tools to measure and improve model performance across multiple dimensions.
• Collaborate with research teams to convert emerging techniques into production-ready implementations.
• Debug complex training pipeline and model behavior issues while establishing reliable, reproducible post-training practices.

Requirements

• Strong software engineering skills and experience building complex machine learning systems.
• Proficiency in Python, deep learning frameworks, and distributed computing.
• Experience with training, fine-tuning, or evaluating large language models.
• Experience working with large-scale distributed systems and high-performance computing.
• Ability to balance research exploration with engineering rigor and operational reliability.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education, training, and experience in a relevant field.
