Junior Data Engineer (Python)

Location: Hybrid in Wakefield, Massachusetts, United States; in-office one day per week, with additional in-person trainings and workshops as needed.

Salary: $85,000–$93,000 per year. Compensation is calibrated to geographic location and may vary based on where you live.

What you will do

• Build, maintain, and enhance batch data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows.
• Write SQL and scripts to extract, transform, validate, and load data from APIs, databases, files, and other sources.
• Design and maintain datasets, tables, views, and data models for applications, reporting, and analytics.
• Implement data quality checks, reconciliation, logging, and monitoring.
• Troubleshoot pipeline issues, support releases, backfills, and reprocessing, and document changes.
• Help modernize legacy data processes with secure, automated, cloud-based solutions and contribute to code reviews, testing, build pipelines, and runbooks.

Requirements

• Entry-level experience through academic work, internships, projects, or professional experience with SQL, Python, databases, data analysis, or software development.
• Working knowledge of SQL, relational databases, data modeling, and ETL/ELT patterns.
• Familiarity with CSV, JSON, REST APIs, version control, pull requests, automated testing, and deployment pipelines.
• Foundational knowledge of AWS or another cloud platform, including storage, compute, and access control.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship and able to work in a hybrid environment with one office day per week.

Nice to have

• Experience with Git, build pipelines, authentication, or frontend testing.
