Data Engineer (AI)

Location: Mountain View, California; New York City, New York; or Redmond, Washington, United States

Base salary: USD $142,800–$274,800 per year across the United States. The range is USD $188,000–$304,200 per year for the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City metropolitan area.

What you will do

• Build infrastructure that transforms first-party data, third-party data, model signals, evaluation results, and synthetic data into high-quality training data.
• Develop data governance, security, compliance, attribution, and observability infrastructure.
• Build policy-aware data acquisition and curation systems.
• Create evaluation-to-data feedback loops connecting model failures, data gaps, interventions, training, and evaluation.
• Develop synthetic and AI-native data pipelines.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, software engineering, computer engineering, or a related field and 3+ years of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of relevant experience; equivalent experience is also accepted.
• Experience in business analytics, data science, software development, data modeling, or data engineering.
• Experience with data infrastructure and systems supporting training-data workflows.
• Ability to work from one of the listed United States locations.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI training-data governance, provenance, licensing and rights metadata, consent management, PII handling, policy enforcement, or auditable lineage.
• Experience managing third-party datasets, data partnerships, licensed content, or externally sourced data with contractual and usage restrictions.
• Experience building privacy- and security-aware systems for first-party product or user data.
• Experience with data clean rooms, privacy-preserving processing, de-identification, confidential computing, or secure data collaboration.
• Experience building evaluation, failure-mining, data-generation, and training feedback loops.
