Research Associate (AI)

Location: Remote in the US with significant travel to Los Angeles

Salary: $80,000–$110,000 base salary per year

Private design studio building and supporting a portfolio of software, hardware, hospitality, and other companies and projects, with an early-stage investment fund and founder cohort program.

What you will do

• Conduct open-ended research into markets, products, companies, funding activity, competitive landscapes, people, technologies, and regulation.
• Turn complex findings into matrices, comparison tables, briefs, landscape maps, and one-pagers.
• Evaluate evidence, identify important and uncertain findings, and develop clear points of view.
• Use AI tools to accelerate research and hirify.globalnd analytical coverage.
• Build lightweight tools, scrapers, trackers, scripts, or prototypes when needed.
• Manage several unrelated requests and reprioritize as project needs change.

Requirements

• 0–2 years of experience and a bachelor's degree.
• Strong analytical reasoning, curiosity, and the ability to investigate unfamiliar questions.
• Hands-on familiarity with AI tools such as Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, or Hugging Face.
• Ability to create working scripts or prototypes using lightweight coding approaches.
• Comfort with ambiguity, independent work, feedback, and changing priorities.
• Strong concise writing skills for communicating research in a page or less.
