Service Reliability Engineering Technical Lead (Kubernetes)

Location: Chicago or Austin, United States

Annual base salary: $250,000–$300,000, depending on experience, qualifications, and relevant skills; annual discretionary bonus eligible.

What you will do

• Own and improve infrastructure, processes, and engineering standards for a large-scale Kubernetes platform with hundreds of clusters and thousands of nodes.
• Make key architectural decisions, prioritize and assign technical work, and identify and eliminate platform risks and technical debt.
• Partner with business units, trading desks, and application teams to support successful onboarding and deployment.
• Develop platform components, monitor costs, and optimize compute consumption for each desk.
• Automate repetitive operational tasks and promote the platform through demos, lightning talks, and presentations.
• Coach engineers, solve complex problems, and uphold high standards of operational and technical excellence.

Requirements

• Multiple years of Kubernetes administration experience.
• Deep knowledge of networking, storage, and containerization fundamentals.
• Familiarity with AWS and/or Google Cloud Platform.
• Service-focused approach with strong customer service and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including evidence-based technical and operational discussions across teams.
• Ability to lead by example and develop technical and soft skills in team members.

Nice to have

• Experience with Kubernetes operators and ecosystem tools such as Flux, Fluent Bit, Fluentd, and Prometheus.
• Experience administering on-premises infrastructure.
• Experience developing, deploying, and supporting full-stack web applications.
• Experience with multiple programming languages across greenfield development and legacy maintenance.
