Senior Navigation Engineer (Spacecraft Navigation)

Location: Onsite in Boulder County, United States

Salary: $145,000–$175,000 per year

What you will do

• Design, develop, tune, and validate navigation and estimation algorithms, including EKF, UKF, and batch or sequential estimators.
• Perform orbit determination, attitude determination, astrodynamic trajectory, covariance, and navigation error-budget analyses.
• Develop sensor and measurement models for IMUs, GNSS/GPS, star trackers, optical and relative navigation, and radiometric systems.
• Implement navigation algorithms in C++ flight code and support software-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop integration and testing.
• Run Monte Carlo analyses, generate navigation verification data, and characterize performance under dispersed and off-nominal conditions.
• Support real-time navigation operations, console support, anomaly response, and communication of navigation risks and design trade-offs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of experience in spacecraft navigation, orbit determination, or estimation.
• Proficiency in Matlab and C++.
• Experience designing and implementing Kalman filters for rocket or space applications.
• Must work onsite in Boulder County and meet U.S. export-control eligibility requirements as a U.S. Person or as a person eligible to obtain an export license.

Nice to have

• Experience with FreeFlyer, GMAT, STK, or similar navigation and astrodynamics tools.
• Optical or relative navigation experience.
• Experience in a startup or agile development environment.
