Tech Lead Manager, Machine Learning, Growth and Marketing (AI)

Location: San Francisco, CA, USA; four days a week in the office and Fridays from home for employees near an office

Base salary: $199,000–$275,000 USD per year, plus potential bonuses, equity, and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead and mentor a team of data scientists and machine learning engineers.
• Set the strategic direction for machine learning initiatives across marketing, engagement, and growth.
• Develop and deploy models for customer acquisition, conversion, retention, lifetime value, churn risk, segmentation, attribution, referrals, and personalized communications.
• Use transactional and behavioral data to improve customer targeting, acquisition spend, and retention strategies.
• Establish best practices for model development, validation, deployment, monitoring, scalability, and business impact.
• Partner with marketing, product, growth, engineering, and business leaders to drive experimentation and predictive analytics.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience developing machine learning models for marketing and growth from inception through production.
• 5+ years of experience leading data science teams, including mentoring and coaching.
• Expertise in customer segmentation, lifetime value modeling, churn prediction, referral systems, and multi-touch attribution.
• Strong knowledge of classification, clustering, reinforcement learning, optimization, deep learning, and NLP.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL, with experience building ML pipelines and working with large-scale data.
• M.S. or Ph.D. in machine learning, computer science, statistics, or a related STEM field, plus strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with AWS, Kafka, Airflow, Redis, MySQL, Postgres, Spark, Snowflake, or Looker.
• Experience integrating production machine learning models with marketing technology stacks and growth platforms.
