Principal Software Engineer (Device Managers) (Medical Devices/Software): Designing, developing, verifying, and continuously improving software for critical cardiac care technologies with an accent on compliant development, technical leadership, and reusable engineering frameworks. Focus on leading complex software initiatives, reviewing architecture and code, mentoring engineers, and improving quality across the medical device lifecycle.
Location: Galway, County Galway, Ireland; hybrid work model
Salary: €83,520–€125,280 annually, plus eligibility for the Incentive Plan.

What you will do
- Design, develop, test, and continuously improve software for medical device products.
- Lead planning for complex software initiatives, including scope definition, estimation, technical execution, and delivery.
- Provide technical leadership, coaching, mentoring, and engineering best practices to software engineers.
- Collaborate with product engineering, software test, systems, and architecture teams to deliver technical solutions.
- Review requirements, specifications, architecture, designs, source code, and other engineering deliverables.
- Develop reusable frameworks, components, design patterns, and process improvements that increase software quality and engineering efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline with at least 7 years of relevant software engineering experience, or an advanced degree with at least 5 years of experience.
- Experience designing, developing, and verifying software through established software development lifecycle processes.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and Test-Driven Development.
- Expertise in at least two of XML, C++, Java, JavaScript, C#, .NET, Python, or HTML.
- Experience with software design, technical reviews, code reviews, and software verification activities.
Nice to have
- Experience developing software for medical devices.
- Knowledge of medical device software standards and regulatory expectations, including IEC 62304.
- Experience leading engineering teams through technical mentoring, coaching, and best-practice adoption.
- Experience working in cross-functional product development environments.
- Experience developing reusable frameworks, components, or design patterns.
