Localisation Associate (Japanese speaking)

What you will do

• Create and manage translation projects in XTM, meeting deadlines, budgets, and quality standards.
• Translate, edit, proofread, and coordinate English-to-Japanese content including books, exams, and training materials.
• Identify and implement AI, machine translation, and language-model tools to improve localisation workflows.
• Prepare files, perform file alignments, and maintain translation memories for efficient content reuse.
• Source, onboard, brief, and manage translators, Language Service Providers, and Subject Matter Experts.
• Coordinate feedback, quality checks, reporting, supplier communications, and issue resolution with internal stakeholders.

Requirements

• Native or equivalent fluency in Japanese and English, with strong English-to-Japanese translation skills.
• Experience in an LSP environment or translation function, preferably managing English-to-Japanese localisation projects.
• Experience using CAT tools, machine translation, and translation management systems; XTM experience is advantageous.
• Experience with MS Office, InDesign, and other file formats, including file engineering for localisation.
• Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting time and budget requirements and collaborating across teams.
• Excellent communication, prioritisation, organisational, relationship-building, and independent working skills.

Nice to have

• Experience in the professional education sector.
• Academic background in Translation Studies.
• LanguageCert C2 LTE or C2 IESOL certificate.
• ECDL Advanced certification.
