IT Business Analyst (Insurance)

Location: Cluj-Napoca, Romania; hybrid work with at least three days per week in the local office or onsite with clients.

What you will do

• Translate business strategies and insurance and reinsurance workflows into actionable requirements, functional specifications, and traceable IT solutions.
• Analyze, design, redesign, and document current and future insurance processes, including data mappings and data dictionaries.
• Partner with underwriting, claims, finance, reinsurance, development, business, client, and vendor stakeholders.
• Conduct feasibility studies, impact assessments, integration analysis, and release scope management.
• Develop and facilitate UAT scenarios, test scripts, training, and supplemental materials for insurance and reinsurance users.
• Identify opportunities to modernize legacy systems and improve data interoperability while managing migration, decommissioning, regulatory, risk, and dependency considerations.

Requirements

• Clear understanding of insurance value chains, underwriting cycles, reinsurance market dynamics, insurance products, claims management, premium calculation, risk assessment, policy administration, and treaty or facultative reinsurance structures.
• Ability to translate between technical development teams and non-technical business users in fast-paced environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to break down complex insurance processes into clear requirements.
• High attention to detail in documentation and tracing requirements through testing and implementation.
• Experience managing competing priorities across multiple business units and vendors.
• Understanding of insurance regulations and compliance requirements, including SOX, data privacy, and underwriting standards.

Nice to have

• Proficiency in SQL and data query languages for validating data mappings and data integrity.
• Experience with system integration concepts and API documentation.
• Familiarity with Agile and Scrum methodologies.
