Engineering Director - Print

Location: Sydney, Australia; the role is based close to the majority of the Print engineering team.

What you will do

• Set and deliver Canva Print’s technical strategy with Product and Design leadership.
• Build scalable foundations for launching new print products, mock-ups, and customer experiences faster.
• Develop repeatable partner integration patterns while supporting critical print partners.
• Strengthen global commerce systems, including payments and reliable checkout operations.
• Coach and grow Engineering Leads while building a strong leadership pipeline.
• Own technical quality, engineering trade-offs, team performance, and the contribution of engineering to commercial growth.

Requirements

• Experience leading engineering organisations at meaningful scale and developing engineering managers and leads.
• Strong technical judgement and the ability to make long-term platform, delivery, and customer experience trade-offs.
• A track record of turning technical strategy into goals and roadmaps that teams deliver against.
• Commercial thinking and an understanding of how engineering decisions connect to revenue and business outcomes.
• Strong communication and collaboration across Product, Design, Operations, and partner teams.
• Experience building inclusive, high-performing cultures, resolving conflict, and managing performance and calibration processes.

Nice to have

• Experience running an e-commerce or marketplace business.
