TL;DR

Location: PEC Slave Lake, Alberta, Canada; onsite at the Slave Lake facility

What you will do

  • Coordinate safety onboarding, certifications, competency records, recertification, training sessions, and toolbox talks for employees and contractors.
  • Support incident investigations, corrective actions, workplace inspections, audits, risk assessments, and continuous safety improvements.
  • Develop, review, and maintain safety procedures, work practices, safety databases, Safety Data Sheets, and critical controls including isolation and lockout/tagout.
  • Coordinate the site Emergency Response Program, including preparedness planning, exercises, documentation, and incident response support.
  • Provide safety support for projects, construction, commissioning, startup, turnarounds, maintenance, and contractor management.
  • Support regulatory reporting, inspections, compliance activities, safety committees, and communication with operations, maintenance, and corporate EHS teams.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum five years of experience in oil and gas operations, maintenance, health and safety, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, industry best practices, and safe work procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and ability to travel as required.

Nice to have

  • Occupational Health & Safety degree, diploma, certificate, NCSO, CRSP, or equivalent designation.
  • Experience developing Emergency Response Programs and conducting incident investigations or root cause analyses.
  • Experience with industrial risk assessment methodologies and oil and gas regulatory compliance.
