Data Engineering Consultant (m/f) (Microsoft Fabric)

What you will do

• Define data strategies and design end-to-end modern cloud data platforms using Microsoft Fabric and other cloud technologies.
• Advise clients on technology selection, cost optimization, security, and migration from legacy systems.
• Build complex ETL/ELT pipelines, develop Data Vault and Star Schema models, and establish DataOps and CI/CD practices.
• Lead technical presales, solution design, architectural workshops, and stakeholder presentations.
• Translate business requirements into technical roadmaps and oversee delivery quality, timelines, and outcomes.
• Provide technical leadership through code reviews, engineering standards, team mentoring, and client relationship management.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Data Engineering and Data Architecture, including delivery of complex projects.
• Advanced hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including OneLake, Lakehouse/Data Warehouse, Synapse Data Engineering, and Data Factory.
• Strong SQL and Python or PySpark skills, plus experience with dbt, Airflow, or native cloud transformation and orchestration tools.
• Experience with Azure, AWS, or GCP and modern engineering and DevOps practices.
• Experience leading client-facing engagements, technical presales or solution consulting, architectural workshops, and project teams.
• Fluent English is required; the role is based in Zagreb, Croatia, with a hybrid work arrangement.

Nice to have

• Microsoft Fabric certifications, such as Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate or DP-600.
• Experience with Data Mesh, Data Governance, or real-time data processing.
• Experience with financial, banking, telecommunications, or other regulated-industry data projects.
• Experience with LLM/AI-driven solutions and agentic or GenAI architectures.
