Back-End Developer (Node.js/PHP)

Location: Tbilisi, Georgia; hybrid work combining home and office attendance

Flutter Central & Eastern Europe is a technology and product hub within hirify.global, developing sports betting and iGaming platforms across Central and Eastern Europe.

What you will do

• Develop and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Node.js, TypeScript, and PHP/Laravel.
• Own the performance, stability, uptime, and incident resolution of mobile backend services.
• Design integrations with databases, message brokers, third-party services, external APIs, and real-time WebSocket features.
• Improve backend architecture, scalability, security, and performance through microservices and distributed-systems practices.
• Write clean, reusable, testable code; create unit tests; participate in code reviews and technical design discussions.
• Collaborate with developers, DevOps engineers, product owners, and other stakeholders while maintaining technical documentation and API guidelines.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with strong backend development expertise.
• At least 2 years of backend experience with Node.js and TypeScript or PHP/Laravel; experience with both is ideal.
• Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs, backend architecture, scalability, microservices, API security, and distributed systems.
• Experience with testing, Git-based workflows, CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, and Redis, plus asynchronous processing with queues or Kafka/RabbitMQ.
• Proficient written and verbal English communication, analytical and problem-solving skills, autonomy, ownership, and the ability to collaborate and mentor others.

Nice to have

• Experience with Nest.js, SOAP, monorepos, Terraform, or CloudFormation.
• Knowledge of OAuth2, JWT, OpenID Connect, and OWASP security principles.
