Junior Application Security Engineer

Location: Hamburg, Germany

Salary: €50,000–€62,500 yearly

What you will do

• Conduct penetration tests and security-focused code reviews.
• Advise on the secure setup and maintenance of applications and infrastructure hosted primarily on AWS and Kubernetes.
• Triage monitoring events and respond to emerging security threats.
• Automate security auditing processes by writing Python scripts, setting up attack infrastructure, and implementing security scanning in GitLab CI.
• Participate in incident response activities within the SOC, including occasional 24/7 on-call coverage.

Requirements

• At least one year of application security experience.
• Ability to perform active application security assessments and penetration testing.
• Python development and scripting experience.
• Knowledge of secure systems architecture, threat modeling, and security engineering practices.
• Experience with secure code reviews in cloud environments, preferably AWS or GCP.
• Ability to work from Hamburg, Germany.

Nice to have

• Experience with PHP, JavaScript, Go, Laravel, or cloud security.
• Red teaming and offensive security experience.
• Security certifications such as OSCP or OSWP.
• Incident response, web application firewall, CDN, or Cloudflare/Akamai experience.
• Experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
