What you will do

• Lead the design and evolution of the Azure Databricks lakehouse architecture, including storage, data models, integration patterns, and migration roadmaps.
• Design and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for client, matter, people, document, financial, and operational information.
• Build scalable ingestion and transformation pipelines with Python, SQL, Apache Spark, Delta Lake, and appropriate batch, incremental, CDC, or streaming approaches.
• Integrate enterprise databases, APIs, files, and document repositories using source-to-target mappings, data contracts, reconciliation, and schema-change controls.
• Administer Unity Catalog governance, data quality monitoring, lineage, access controls, retention, classification, auditability, and recovery procedures.
• Develop governed datasets and Lakebase PostgreSQL stores supporting analytics, AI agents, retrieval-augmented generation, persistent agent state, checkpoints, and memory.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Significant experience designing, implementing, and operating enterprise data architectures.
• Advanced production experience with Azure Databricks, Apache Spark, Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog.
• Advanced SQL and Python proficiency, including PySpark, production pipeline development, version control, automated testing, and code review.
• Experience with Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Microsoft Entra ID, managed identities, secrets management, authentication, authorization, and secure connectivity.
• Strong knowledge of data governance, confidentiality, classification, lineage, retention, auditability, role-based access controls, performance optimization, and operational recovery.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a related technical discipline.
• Experience with master and reference data management, entity resolution, data stewardship, and enterprise governance.
• Experience building governed data foundations for AI, machine learning, AI agents, and RAG, including metadata management, vector search, or knowledge graphs.
• Experience with Databricks SQL, business intelligence integrations, semantic models, Terraform, Azure DevOps, or GitHub Actions.
• Experience in legal, professional, or financial services and environments with highly sensitive information.
