Senior Manager, Data Center Controls (AI)

Location: Remote; occasional travel to Keel sites or vendor and partner locations may be required.

Salary: $200,000–$240,000 USD, plus an end-of-year cash bonus and annual equity grant.

What you will do

• Define and maintain EPMS and BMS design standards, basis-of-design documents, points lists, technical specifications, and controls architecture criteria.
• Lead controls engineering reviews across feasibility, design, construction, commissioning, startup, and energization.
• Oversee EPMS/BMS design packages, sequences of operation, network diagrams, alarm matrices, submittals, RFIs, and points-to-device verification.
• Evaluate and standardize controls platforms, PLCs, RTUs, sensors, software, network architectures, and cybersecurity controls.
• Build and mentor an internal controls engineering team and manage systems integrators, vendors, cybersecurity consultants, and utility contacts.
• Develop AI/HPC-ready controls, DCIM integration, digital twin capabilities, predictive fault detection, demand response, and grid resiliency roadmaps.

Requirements

• 10+ years of progressive controls or instrumentation engineering experience focused on mission-critical or data center facilities.
• Experience leading EPMS/BMS design for hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise data centers and serving as a technical owner or discipline lead on large capital projects.
• Deep knowledge of EPMS power monitoring, metering, protective relay integration, historians, BMS architecture, DDC controls, sequences of operation, and alarm management.
• Proficiency with BACnet, Modbus, OPC UA, SNMP, IEC 61850, SCADA, DCIM, and building automation front-ends.
• Knowledge of OT cybersecurity, network segmentation, NIST/IEC 62443 frameworks, functional performance testing, and L0–L5 controls commissioning.
• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, controls/instrumentation, computer engineering, or a related field; strong communication, documentation, and cross-functional leadership skills.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer license.
• CAP, Tridium Niagara, CDCDP, PMP, or similar certification.
• Experience with industry organizations such as 7x24 Exchange, ASHRAE, Uptime Institute, or BICSI.
