Writer, Finance - Freelance

Location: Remote, US-based; must be available to work Eastern Time hours

What you will do

• Write long-form financial education, financial news, and consumer-focused content.
• Explain topics including retirement, investing, insurance, taxes, saving, and financial planning in clear, accessible language.
• Research topics, identify credible primary sources, interview or incorporate subject-matter experts, and distinguish facts from expert perspectives and marketing claims.
• Apply AP style standards consistently across all written content.
• Develop a credible author perspective, bio, and byline history that support reader trust.
• Collaborate with editors, strategists, and other team members to meet editorial and client standards.

Requirements

• Experience as a personal-finance journalist or editorial writer producing long-form consumer financial content.
• Demonstrated experience turning complex financial topics into clear, well-structured articles.
• Strong reporting, research, sourcing, interviewing, and fact-checking skills.
• Subject-matter experience in personal finance, wealth, investing, retirement, insurance, banking, taxes, or related areas.
• Proficiency in AP style, with a rigorous and detail-oriented approach to accuracy and editorial integrity.
• US-based availability and the ability to work Eastern Time hours are required.
