AI Security Consultant

Location: Manchester, United Kingdom; hybrid working with attendance in the office or on client site at least 2 days per week

What you will do

• Conduct cybersecurity assessments across cloud environments, applications, networks, identity platforms, and operational processes.
• Review security architectures and design practical controls for access management, data protection, monitoring, vulnerability management, incident response, and third-party risk.
• Assess AI-enabled applications, LLM integrations, AI agents, autonomous workflows, and model-connected business processes.
• Threat model agentic systems and advise on permission boundaries, sandboxing, auditability, validation, and human oversight.
• Identify safe uses of AI in security operations, including alert triage, threat intelligence, detection engineering, reporting, and vulnerability prioritisation.
• Develop AI security guardrails, playbooks, governance processes, and operating models for SOC, GRC, vulnerability management, and incident response.

Requirements

• Strong background in cybersecurity consulting, security architecture, risk management, or security operations.
• Knowledge of identity and access management, cloud security, application security, data protection, vulnerability management, incident response, and security monitoring.
• Experience assessing technical environments, producing prioritised recommendations, and communicating with technical and senior business stakeholders.
• Understanding of AI, generative AI, or LLM-enabled systems and their interaction with data, prompts, APIs, tools, and users.
• Ability to threat model complex systems and explain emerging technical risks in clear, practical terms.
• Applicants must meet UK residency and security-clearance eligibility requirements; some roles require British citizenship or at least 5 years of continuous UK residency.

Nice to have

• Experience with AI governance, responsible AI, model risk management, or AI assurance.
• Familiarity with NIST AI RMF, OWASP guidance, MITRE ATLAS, ISO 27001, NIST CSF, CIS Controls, or cloud security frameworks.
• Experience with SOC operations, SIEM/SOAR, detection engineering, threat intelligence, or incident response.
• Knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation, model APIs, vector databases, agent frameworks, or automation tools.
• Relevant cybersecurity, cloud security, AI, or security governance certifications.

Hiring process
