TL;DR
Middle Test Automation Engineer (Networking) (Python/Playwright/SD-WAN): Designing and executing automated tests for software-defined networking products with an accent on Python automation, Playwright UI testing, REST API validation, and CI/CD integration. Focus on troubleshooting complex network behavior, stabilizing flaky tests, analyzing failures and root causes, and validating Catalyst SD-WAN workflows.

What you will do
- Design and execute test strategies for Catalyst SD-WAN features and end-to-end product workflows.
- Develop and maintain Python-based test automation and browser automation with Playwright or comparable frameworks.
- Test RESTful APIs through positive and negative scenarios, authentication checks, payload validation, and error handling.
- Analyze failures, logs, stack traces, API responses, browser artifacts, and system behavior to identify root causes.
- Improve flaky test stability, coverage, execution performance, reliability, and maintainability.
- Integrate automated suites into CI/CD pipelines and manage defects through resolution while collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams.
Requirements
- Networking knowledge at CCNA/CCNP level, including IPv4/IPv6, TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, VRFs, NAT, DHCP, DNS, QoS, BGP, and OSPF.
- Hands-on experience with Python test automation, Playwright or a comparable browser automation framework, and HTTP/RESTful API testing.
- Practical network troubleshooting using packet captures, logs, counters, and device CLI.
- Working knowledge of SD-WAN concepts, including underlay and overlay networks, control, management and data planes, tunnels, segmentation, VPNs, routing policies, high availability, and failover.
- Experience with Git workflows, CI/CD integration using Jenkins or similar tools, and engineering tools such as Jira, GitHub, or GitLab.
- Experience testing enterprise networking, SD-WAN, cloud networking, routing, switching, or security products, plus strong root-cause analysis and defect-management skills.
Nice to have
- CCNA or CCNP certification.
- Hands-on experience with Catalyst SD-WAN.
- Knowledge of firewalls, ZTNA, and SASE.
- Experience applying AI-assisted engineering practices to testing and automation.
