Junior Machine Learning (ML) Developer (AI)

What you will do

• Build machine learning models for fluid-based industrial processes using proprietary spectral sensors and software.
• Design experiments, ablation studies, and model evaluations focused on accuracy, generalizability, robustness, and process variability.
• Develop preprocessing and feature extraction pipelines for noisy spectral and multimodal sensor data.
• Build monitoring and correction systems for model drift, sensor drift, and process anomalies.
• Develop performant ML infrastructure and tooling with ML, data science, and software engineering teams.
• Apply chemometrics, hybrid modeling, self-supervised learning, distribution modeling, similarity analysis, anomaly detection, and continuous calibration.

Requirements

• Proficiency with at least one Python ML framework: PyTorch, JAX, or TensorFlow.
• Fluency with Python tools for numerical computing and data workflows, including NumPy, Polars, Pandas, or scikit-learn.
• Ability to write clean, testable code and deliver high-quality technical work independently.
• Strong curiosity about data and willingness to test hypotheses, understand model behavior, and run physical experiments.
• Availability for a hybrid role in Somerville, Massachusetts.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of chemical engineering, process engineering, or manufacturing.
• Experience with AWS, GCP, or Databricks.
• Familiarity with spectral data, time-series modeling, or sensor-driven ML.
• Familiarity with Bayesian modeling and probabilistic reasoning.
• Experience building real products, particularly products using machine learning, and practicing user-centric design.
