Senior Director, Clinical Development (MD)

Location: United States - California - Foster City

Salary: $302,005–$390,830 for the Bay Area; $274,550–$355,300 for other US locations.

What you will do

• Lead clinical development strategy for one or more oncology programs from IND-enabling activities through proof-of-concept and early development milestones.
• Provide medical oversight and monitoring across clinical studies, ensuring participant safety, data integrity, and high-quality execution.
• Lead cross-functional teams in designing and executing clinical development plans and studies.
• Author and review protocols, investigator brochures, clinical study reports, regulatory documents, and other development deliverables.
• Lead regulatory interactions and submissions, and present clinical data and development strategies to governance committees, health authorities, conferences, and investigators.
• Build relationships with investigators, key opinion leaders, and scientific advisors while mentoring physicians and contributing to portfolio and business development evaluations.

Requirements

• MD or DO with 6+ years of clinical, scientific, or drug development experience, including substantial biopharmaceutical clinical development experience.
• Significant experience leading oncology drug development programs and clinical strategy.
• Experience with first-in-human, proof-of-concept, and registrational development programs.
• Experience leading global health authority interactions and major regulatory submissions.
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams and make decisions in a matrix environment.
• Willingness to travel up to 25%.

Nice to have

• Board certification in Hematology/Oncology or a related specialty.
• Cell therapy experience, including autologous, allogeneic, or in vivo cellular therapy platforms.
• Scientific leadership demonstrated through publications, presentations, advisory boards, or engagement with external experts.
• Experience mentoring physicians, scientists, and cross-functional team members.
• Experience evaluating external innovation, licensing opportunities, partnerships, or business development transactions.
