Staff Software Engineer (AI/ML)

Location: Onsite at the Crossman Respect Building home office in Sunnyvale, California, United States

Annual salary: $143,000–$286,000, plus potential performance bonuses and stock.

What you will do

• Deliver infrastructure, tooling, and ML framework capabilities aligned with platform roadmaps.
• Lead coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance across the full software lifecycle.
• Design scalable, resilient cloud-native systems and conduct system design reviews.
• Build AI-driven applications and integrate machine learning components using multiple programming languages.
• Mentor engineers, influence technical decisions, and promote engineering standardization.
• Translate complex stakeholder requirements into technical solutions and drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Production experience designing and delivering ML platform capabilities such as model serving, MLOps pipelines, or monitoring frameworks.
• Deep knowledge of distributed systems, event-driven architecture, Kafka, microservices, API design, and cloud-native infrastructure.
• Strong production programming skills in Java and/or Python.
• Experience with MLflow, Vertex AI, or equivalent model registry and lifecycle tooling.
• Hands-on experience with Spark, BigQuery, large-scale data pipelines, and real-time data processing.
• Experience building observability infrastructure with OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana, and distributed tracing.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or a related field.
• Knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility practices.
