Software Development Engineer - ML Ops (US Federal)

Location: Reston, Virginia, USA; employees may be required to work at client sites across the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. At least 50% of time each quarter must be spent in the office or in the field.

Annual base salary: $163,800–$245,800 USD for the primary location; $148,200–$264,000 USD for additional U.S. locations.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and deliver scalable features for the machine learning runtime platform.
• Build microservices, frameworks, automation, and developer tooling for production ML inference applications.
• Deploy and operate distributed systems using Docker, Kubernetes, service mesh technologies, ArgoCD, and public clouds.
• Develop infrastructure as code, CI/CD capabilities, capacity management practices, and self-service operational tooling.
• Partner with data scientists, ML engineers, software engineers, and technical leads to define and deliver technical solutions.
• Participate in rotating on-call support and proactively resolve production issues.

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship is required for personnel supporting applicable U.S. federal government contracts.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance at the TS/SCI with CI Poly level; an active clearance is preferred.
• For the senior P4 level: 7+ years of experience in DevOps engineering, infrastructure automation, and CI/CD development.
• For the senior P4 level: 7+ years of Python experience and experience with Docker and Kubernetes; P3 applicants require 5+ years.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a STEM field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with MLOps, ML runtime platforms or inference pipelines, infrastructure as code, Git workflows, observability, distributed systems, and microservice architectures.

Nice to have

• Active TS/SCI with CI Poly security clearance.
• Experience with Terraform, ArgoCD, Jenkins, Grafana, or Prometheus.
• Experience leading technical initiatives and mentoring engineers.
