Big Data Engineer (Scala)

Location: Warsaw, Poland. Hybrid work with attendance at the assigned office at least 3 days per week.

What you will do

• Own and evolve asynchronous data services that synchronize data across hirify.global systems and data stores.
• Improve the reliability, scalability, observability, and architecture of existing services.
• Design and implement services for growing data volumes and changing platform requirements.
• Ensure data consistency and reliability across data stores and downstream systems.
• Collaborate with Core Data and other engineering teams on requirements, dependencies, and technical challenges.
• Operate production services, troubleshoot reliability and performance issues, participate in on-call rotations, and contribute to the platform’s technical direction.

Requirements

• 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience with Scala or Java, MySQL, Pub/Sub, and BigQuery.
• Strong understanding of algorithms, data structures, and code design principles.
• Strong knowledge of high-scale distributed systems and database scalability and performance.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Strong ownership, persistence, communication, and problem-solving skills.
