Junior RAN Software Engineer (5G NR NTN)

Location: Barcelona, Spain. The role is hybrid, but the work is lab-based and hands-on with hardware, requiring regular onsite presence at an engineering location.

What you will do

• Build and extend 5G NR non-terrestrial network test terminal software.
• Own test and validation automation, continuous integration, regression runs, and result analysis.
• Drive integration from terrestrial networks to GEO and LEO satellite scenarios through software channel and physical RF emulators.
• Use AI-assisted development while understanding and defending every shipped implementation.
• Work alongside a senior engineer and grow toward a radio access software engineering role.

Requirements

• Degree in telecommunications, electronics, or computer engineering.
• Solid C or C++ and Python skills for software and tooling.
• Foundational knowledge of LTE or 5G mobile radio protocols and willingness to work from 3GPP specifications.
• Demonstrated project experience, such as a thesis, personal project, or internship, with the ability to explain design decisions.
• Hands-on interest in hardware, logs, and software-defined radios.
• Practical AI skills and creative problem-solving ability.

Nice to have

• Experience with open-source radio access software such as srsRAN or OpenAirInterface.
• Linux, embedded development, or software-defined radio experience.
• Interest in satellite communications and non-terrestrial networks.
• Version control and continuous integration practice.
