Underwriting Associate (Property Insurance): Supporting the full Property underwriting lifecycle in Tokyo through data management, policy documentation, premium handling, risk review, and regulatory reporting with an accent on operational accuracy, compliance, and stakeholder communication. Focus on resolving data inconsistencies, coordinating with onshore and offshore service providers, and maintaining policy workflows across complex commercial insurance operations.
Location: Tokyo, Japan; hybrid work with at least three days per week in the office

What you will do
- Support the full Property underwriting lifecycle, including pre-underwriting preparation, risk review, costing, quote preparation, and endorsement handling.
- Maintain accurate data in underwriting systems and resolve inconsistencies with relevant stakeholders.
- Manage closings, statements, contract amendments, premiums, endorsements, and post-underwriting activities.
- Prepare policy documentation and regulatory reports, including FSA contract checklists and AML key control monitoring.
- Coordinate with underwriters, line managers, outsourced service providers, contractors, and internal and external customers.
- Support operational projects and follow up on outstanding documentation, tasks, and reporting requirements.
Requirements
- Native-level Japanese proficiency and current residence in Japan are essential.
- Business-level English proficiency, with experience working in an English-speaking professional environment; TOEIC 800+ is recommended.
- 2–4 years of experience in insurance operations, preferably in commercial lines.
- Daily proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills, with the ability to manage complex tasks accurately and meet deadlines.
- A university degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant field.

- Knowledge of Property insurance products and underwriting processes.
- Experience working with onshore or offshore service providers and multiple stakeholders.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to evolving processes, systems, and technologies.
