Publishing Director (Scientific Publishing)

Location: Beijing or Shanghai, with a hybrid working model

What you will do

• Create and update strategic plans for a global portfolio of scientific journals, including new journal launches.
• Lead, manage, and develop a high-performing publishing team.
• Track portfolio strategy implementation and ensure new titles launch on schedule and attract high-quality content.
• Share responsibility for group business performance and translate market opportunities into profitable business models.
• Build relationships with editors-in-chief, editorial board members, societies, associations, journal owners, authors, referees, and the wider research community.
• Turn trends in research and publishing into initiatives focused on Open Science, Open Access, and market share.

Requirements

• Significant experience leading teams in a scientific or academic publishing environment.
• Excellent management, communication, leadership, and team-building skills.
• Excellent English language skills.
• Experience developing profitable business models from market opportunities, with strong analytical and commercial skills.
• Thorough understanding of the scientific or research process and the needs of editors, authors, and referees.
• Degree-level education or equivalent, preferably in a relevant field.
