Senior Backend Engineer (PHP/Node): Building scalable customer-facing and internal healthcare products, data platforms, e-commerce capabilities, and APIs with an accent on third-party payment integrations, cloud architecture, and reliable backend systems. Focus on designing extensible platforms, applying CI/CD and infrastructure as code, and delivering testable services that support products used by millions of people.

What you will do
- Develop core functionality for customer-facing and internal products, data platforms, and e-commerce capabilities.
- Design extensible platforms and architectures for launching new products and business lines.
- Build and maintain integrations with third-party systems, including payment service providers.
- Develop APIs powering web and mobile products.
- Own work end to end, from scoping and architecture through implementation, testing, deployment, and operations.
- Collaborate with engineers, designers, QA specialists, product managers, business stakeholders, and domain experts.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
- Experience integrating and scaling payment service providers such as Adyen, Stripe, or Checkout.com.
- Familiarity with scalable cloud architectures, design patterns, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.
- Readiness to learn PHP and Node, the current main backend technologies.
- Experience with relational databases, search engines, data management, TDD, and unit, integration, and performance testing.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-engineering colleagues.
Nice to have
- Experience with observability, chargebacks, recurring payments, 3DS, PCI-DSS compliance, and subscriptions.
- Experience applying LLMs to automate business processes or building AI-powered internal tools.
- Experience building highly scalable and reliable cloud systems used by millions of users.
- Degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
