Senior Machine Learning Engineer (AI)

Location: Montreal, Canada

Base salary: CA$136,100–CA$204,100 CAD gross for Zone A or CA$147,000–CA$220,600 CAD gross for Zone B, depending on primary work location.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and scale AI agent systems in hirify.global environments for goal-directed behavior, task planning, execution, and environment-aware decision-making.
• Build reusable planning modules, memory systems, policy adaptation layers, and other agentic frameworks for creators.
• Develop and integrate machine learning models for hirify.global game development while optimizing latency, compute usage, and determinism in real-time environments.
• Lead initiatives involving hierarchical reinforcement learning, NPC planning and goal inference, persistent agent memory, and world modeling.
• Collaborate with internal and external teams on applications in gaming, simulation, and interactive storytelling.
• Establish practices for model quality, simulation-based evaluation, and ML/AI safety; mentor engineers and researchers.

Requirements

• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Robotics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience developing machine learning systems in production, ideally in real-time or interactive environments.
• Strong background in reinforcement learning, fine-tuning, decision-making under uncertainty, AI planning, or multi-agent systems.
• Sufficient English proficiency for frequent professional verbal and written communication with colleagues and partners worldwide.
