Software Engineer - Fern (AI)

Location: New York City, United States; in-office five days per week

Salary: $160,000–$190,000 base annually, plus equity

What you will do

• Build APIs, AI infrastructure, and developer experiences used by millions of people.
• Scale AI systems deployed on Vercel, AWS, and Turbopuffer.
• Improve performance, reliability, and security under real-world load.
• Work directly with API teams to debug production edge cases and shape APIs from customer feedback.
• Collaborate with product designers and frontend engineers using TypeScript and Next.js.

Requirements

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for solving technical problems with customers.
• Experience building high-quality developer experiences and open-source software.
• Ability to work in the New York City office five days per week.
