Software Engineering Manager (Semiconductor/Capital Equipment)

Location: Milpitas, California, United States; onsite role with 10–20% travel to global sites and customer locations.

Salary: $167,400–$245,533 annually

What you will do

• Lead and grow the Diagnostics & Calibration software team for EUV actinic reticle inspection systems.
• Provide technical leadership and architectural oversight for multi-language software systems.
• Apply AI, machine learning, LLMs, agentic frameworks, and automation to diagnostics, calibration, data analysis, and developer productivity.
• Translate system and user requirements into software designs, technical direction, and execution plans.
• Drive software reliability, maintainability, performance, scalability, CI/CD practices, and delivery tracking.
• Partner with physicists, hardware, manufacturing, service, subsystem, and global software teams; support root-cause analysis, integration, bring-up, and deployment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in physical science, computer science, microscopy, optics, or a related field.
• 8+ years of software development experience, including 2+ years in technical leadership or engineering management.
• Strong experience with system-level software development involving hardware-software interaction and medium- to large-scale applications.
• Experience using AI tools for software development and building applications with LLMs, generative AI, and agentic frameworks.
• Proficiency in Python, C++, or C# and familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Git, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or Azure DevOps.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, ownership, and accountability skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with diagnostics, calibration, machine control, inspection, or metrology systems.
• Computer vision, image processing, or image analysis experience.
• Proficiency in LabVIEW, preferably with object-oriented design.
• Experience in semiconductor capital equipment product environments.
